Betty Morris is a free-lance textile artist who trained in embroidery after an earlier career in science and teaching. She uses both machine and hand embroidery and her framed pictures are largely inspired by landscape and architecture and often based on her "on the spot" sketches and photographs

Betty uses paints, dyes, applied fabrics and machine and hand stitching and builds up texture using dissolvable fabrics.

An ongoing interest is ruined buildings and crumbling walls. Another source of ideas is architecture and some of Betty's work uses Indian, Greek or Roman buildings and decoration as design sources. In these pieces she enjoy exploring colour and pattern.
